DENNIS, MATTHIAS (War of 1812) AUTAUGA CO.

Autauga County, Alabama on 5 May 1855 before a JP appeared Mathias Dennis, aged 63 years, a resident of Autauga·Co., Ala. who declared he was a private in the company commanded by Capt. Richard Parks in the 2nd Regt. of Ga. Militia

commanded by Samuel Groves in the War with Great Britain declared by the

United States on the 18th day of June 1812 for the term of six months and

continued in actual,service for 14 days - that he has made application for

bounty land under the act of Sept. 28, 1850 and rec'd a land warrant No.

9888 - for 80 acres which he has since legally disposed of and cannot now

return. He makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the add'l

bounty land to which he may be entitled under the act approved the 3rd day

of March 1855.

 

We William W. House and Bland (sic) Luter, residents of Autauga Co. in the

State of Ala. declare that the foregoing declaration was signed and

acknowledged by Mathias Dennis in our presence and that we believe from the

appearance and statements of the applicant that he is the identical person

he presents himself to be.
