Charles Chap Lewter was a "River Man", meaning that he worked on the barges and boats that plied up and down the Tennessee River. He had no children and was living with his mother at the time of the 1930 census.

Services for Charllie Lewter, 91, were held at 2 p.m. Monday in First Methodist Church in Adamsville.


Burial followed in Adamsville Cemetery with Shackelford Funeral Directors.

Mr. Lewter died late Saturday afternoon. He was a Methodist and a Mason.

He leaves a daughter, Mrs. E.C. Vinson of Adamsville, a sister, Mrs. Maggie Farris of Mississippi; four grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren.
