I went back and checked Thomas C Lewter's tombstone and it definitely says he was born Oct 14, 1857. So I looked at his Death Certificate and while it's filled out wrong; saying father unknown and mother M Lewter, it says Thomas was 69 years, 4 months and 9 days old, that would make his birth date October 15, 1868. Please check my math! Based on census records and TC's tombstone, his

DC age is wrong. Also odd is that Thomas' son Arthur is listed as the informant and since he would have been 28 when his grandmother died, he certainly would have known her name. This is either a further hint that Catherine Harward Lewter wasn't his mother or that the person filling out the DC didn't bother to get better information.

Interesting. We'll have to see if there is a marriage bond. I've seen enough in this time period and prior to be reminded that the wedding didn't always preceed the marriage. Just saying... :) Heck, Thomas' grandmother Peggy Batchelor was pregnant with herdaughter Nancy before she and Martin Lewter got married. Shoot, another mystery to solve!
