Orginally interned at the Lewter - Yates Family Cemetery. Dug up and re-interned at Green Level

Baptist Church to make way for land development. On the back of the stone marking the new grave site: "LEWTER - YATES FAMILY PLOT. The orginal cemetery was located on the family homestead which is the present site of Copperleaf Subsivion." Dec. 2004.

Other side of stone: Milly Bachelor Yates May 12, 1826 - Oct. 5, 1907

Hindon Yates June 21, 1821 - Apr 15, 1891

Fidella Yates Lewter Mar. 1858 - Sept. 1915

Charles M. Lewter Dec. 1853 - Jan. 24, 1917

Miley Florrie Lewter Sept. 1887 - Jan. 24, 1917

The transfer of the graves was handled by Mr. Wade Sutton of Rocky Mount, NC. After having the first few inches of dirt removed from the surface, a thorough survey was done of the cemetery. Each grave was then opened up and the contents of each grave was removed from the grave and deposited in a box which was individually identified with a brass plate. When interned at Green Level Baptist Church, two graves were purchased, the remains of Milly and Hinton was placed in one grave with Fidella, Charles and Milly placed in the other grave. The orginal grave markers were then placed on top of the boxes containing the remains and then covered with soil.

The above stone with all info as listed was then placed at the head of the graves.

The home site where the cemetery was originally located was the Hinton Yates Farm, but currently known as the Joe Don Yates Farm.

Both, the home site and Green Level Baptist Church was personally visited by John Burns and

Cousin Kim Wrenn on 1 July 2006 (and by Cousin Susan Rosin in spirit).
