Holt Services Conducted Here Monday Afternoon

Last rites for William C. Holt, 89, retired grocer, of 1739 E. Houston St. were conducted Monday afternoon at Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home. Mr. Holt, formerly a ginner at Biardstown and a grocer atMinter, died at home Sunday afternoon.

Service was held by Dr. H. Glenn Smith of Immanuel Baptist Church and the Rev. Wesley V. Hite of First Methodist Church had charge, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Named as pallbearers were Frank Council, William Pretre,T. F. Pretre, Grady Cearley, Frank Home and James Home.

 

Mr. Holt was. born in Athens, Ala., March 7, 1862, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. N. Holt. He came to Lamar County in 1884,and two years later, Feb. 3, 1886, he married. Miss Nancy Lee Dillard. She survives besides these children: Mrs. C. W. Pretre, Paris; Mrs. J. B. Tryra, Dallas ; Mrs.Delbert Suggs and Roy Holt, Cunningham,and Joe Holt, Fort Worth; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Mrs. W. C. Holt, 90, longtime resident of Biardstown and Paris, died at 9:25 p.m. Sunday in a Paris Hospital where she had been taken earlier in the night. She lived at 1719 E. Houston St., her home since she and her husband moved to Paris in 1924. She had been an invalid since the following year.

 

Her husband's death occurred April 1, 1951 after their 64th wedding anniversary,

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Holt will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Fry -Gibbs

chapel, and interment made in Evergreen Cemetery. Surviving are these children: Mrs. Wirt Pretre, Paris; Mrs. Eura Suggs, Cunningham, and Joe H. Holt, Fort Worth; besides 16 other descendants. The former Mis s Nannie Lee Dillard, daughter of the late James and Mary Ann (Burrows) Dillard, Mrs. Holt was born in Biardstown community, October 3 1867. She w as married there in 1885. She had been a member of the Minter Rebekah Lodge and was a Baptist.

The funeral of Mrs. W. C. Holt, 1719 E. Houston St., was set Tuesday at 3 pm: at Fry-Gibbs chapel, conducted by the Rev. Ronald Prince of First B aptist Church. Named pallbearers were Frank Council, Joe E. Holt, Kealieth Baty, Fernand Pretre,Charles Baty and Don Pretre. Mrs. Holt, 90, the former Miss Nannie Lee Dillard of Biardstown, died here Sunday night.
